June 2009 saw the "Zoom to the Zoo" campaign launched, with some of the 26-branded Gemini 2s entering service with advertising vinyl covering all non-branded areas. 316 (SN09 CUV) was the first to appear in service, and wears the "Chimps" variant of the advertisement.

The advertising applied here has been done sensibly - i.e. no contravision to give its passengers a headache. Several suggestions have already been put forward as to who might have modelled for the hairy looking bloke on the side; odds-on favourite at the minute is scottishclass40roadshow ;o)

Sister 317 (SN09 CUW) enters service similarly adorned. The ad is certainly distinctive; and, in this form, could easily be applied to other branded buses on the Corstorphine corridor.

"Penguin" 319 (SN09 CUY) is seem at Clermiston.

The blue-based 'Dive On' variant of the Zoom to the Zoo designs may well prove to be the best suited to the red 26 branding.

Third of the anticipated five variants of the zoo branding is the tiger, with "Have a PURRfect Day Out" legend. 320 (SN09 CVA) is seen on Drumbrae Drive on its first night in service.

321 (SN09 CVB) is the second of the tigers.

Zebras provide the theme for the next pair of 'Zoom to the Zoo' buses; 322 (SN09 CVC) wears the 'Go Faster Stripes here.

323 (SN09 CVD) is the second zebra-striped bus. Hindsight may deem the white lettering on a white-and-black striped surface not the best idea, as this is the most difficult of the legends to read.

The final design, and arguably the most distinctive, is the Rainbow Lorikeet design, with 'Take Off!' legend. 324 (SN09 CVE) is the first of the pair.

Nice looking couple of birds...

Sister 325 (SN09 CVF) completes the fleet of ten 'Zoom to the Zoo' buses. For me, the penguins and lorikeets are the two stand-out, eye-catching gems. Opinion will undoubtedly be divided on these, but love them or loath them, there's no denying they achieve their objective - and not a hint of contravision in sight...

The very first full-side ad applied to a Lothian Gemini is this Telford College vinyl which appeared on 723 (SN55 BMO) in May 2009.

June 2009: 724 (SN55 BMU) carries a full O/S ad for 'Terminator: Salvation' - surely one of the most menacing bits of vinyl ever to grace a PSV!
